Community Service Opportunity

Posting this on behalf of John McGowan in the Career Development Center!

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Once again, we are offering in partnership with Genesee County the opportunity to support the upcoming CROP (Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty) Hunger Walk being held on October 2nd, 2010.

As in past years, Genesee Community College is supporting the CROP walk by recruiting any staff, students and community members to participate.  The date in October 2nd with registration at 8:30 am – Walk 9:00 am and begins at Salvation Army – 529 East main Street, Batavia, NY.  To get the word out, we are in search of any students who would like to gain some community service hours.  Initially, we would like to ask of any student who would like to take on a leadership role to help recruit other student walkers.

This is a great way to gain a very positive service learning experience and contribute to the local community.  In addition, the walk co-insides with GCC’s homecoming event scheduled for October 1st and 2nd!  If you would, please ask for any interested student who would like the opportunity to participate in any way. I have brochures and other materials to pass out to promote this event and if you need any stop in at the new home of the Career Services office on the 2nd floor, room B-201 and check out our new location and office area!

Thank you and look forward to hearing from you!
