Attendance Reporting

Yup. It’s that time of the semester again…. ask questions if you have them!

The time has arrived in the summer semester to ask that you please enter your attendance reporting by Thursday, July 14th for all of your classes. You can access this in Genesis under “My Genesis” tab, Faculty/Advisor Services, Weekly Reporting.  Please be sure to select Summer 2011 term.

The business office relies on this weekly reporting to determine whether a student is earning their federal financial aid by attending classes.  This week is especially critical.  Under Title IV regulations, a student will not earn 100% of their aid (including student loans) unless they attend classes beyond the 60% point of the semester.  For Summer 2011 full semester courses, that 60% point was Monday, July 11th.  On July 18th, we will be refunding Summer 2011 excess financial aid.  We will be reviewing the current attendance data in your weekly reports prior to issuing those checks.

The information you provide in the weekly reporting allows the business office to determine which students may not be attending their courses.  For example, if a full-time student is flagged in all of their courses as UNSATA, we would conclude that this student has likely stopped attending classes and we would hold their refund check until such time as they return to class.  Attendance is the critical factor when it comes to “earning” federal financial aid, including student loans.   Please keep in mind that we (the Business Office) will not encourage student to contact instructors about their student refund if the check is held.  The only time we refer a student back to their instructor is if the student has questions regarding their ability to continue in the course.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the Business Office.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
