System Maintenance – Monday, February 20

What’s a holiday without system maintenance? ::grin::

This is a warning that on Monday, February 20, there’s going to be computer system maintenance between 7 am and 2 pm. We have vendors coming in to do work that will interrupt access to essentially everything.

Everything means:

  • Genesis
  • Black Board / My Courses
  • Library – card catalog and databases
  • Faculty / Staff email — not student Outlook.com email
  • Primary Web site
  • Banner

Students, if you have work due on the 20th, there’s no reason why you can’t finish up work before the 20th. And it’s not going to be all day, if your assignment / assessment is due at midnight, you have from 2 pm on to do the work. You usually don’t turn things in until 11:55 pm anyways… (can you tell I’ve done this too much? 😉 )

I get the occasional student who makes a (somewhat legitimate) complaint that he/she works in addition to taking classes and the holiday is their best chance to catch up on work. Well, we’re not shutting down the entire internet for heaven’s sake. Or your personal computers. So you can do research / homework on someone else’s web sites, write papers and read textbooks during the morning and then turn things in later in the day.

There will be times things do work between 7 am and 2 pm. Doesn’t mean you won’t get cut off without warning. Just saying.

    • The simplest thing is for me to tell you to call the Help Desk 1-866-614-5004 — they won’t help you with usernames or passwords by email, only over the phone. The Help Desk is there 24×7, call any time!

If you live anywhere near Batavia, you can come to T207 between 8 am and 4:30 pm and we’ll reset it there for you, also!
